This billing policy ensures fairness while maintaining the high standards of care that our patients expect from Ermington Family Medical Practice. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Bulk Billing Eligibility
We offer bulk billing for:
  • Children under the age of 16.
  • Holders of a valid Health Care Card or Pension Card.
For these patients, there will be no out-of-pocket expenses for medicare eligible consultations.
Always Bulk Billed Services
The following services are always bulk billed for all patients, regardless of age or concession status:
  • Health Assessments
  • Care Plans
  • Care Plan Reviews
Gap Fee for Non-Eligible Patients
The amount of the gap fee varies based on the service provided, as well as the length and complexity of the consultation. This approach allows our doctors to assess each situation individually and tailor the billing as needed.  
Clinical Procedure Fees

Certain clinical procedures and consultations attract additional fees due to their complexity and resource requirements. These include but are not limited to:

  • Iron infusions
  • Skin cancer surgeries
  • Contraceptive implant insertions
  • Completion of insurance documents / completion of certain paperwork for which medicare rebates are not available.
Payment Process

For those required to pay a gap or procedural fee, we accept various payment methods. Debit card payments are preferred as they allow for a smoother process when claiming back Medicare rebates on the spot, ensuring you receive your rebate quickly and efficiently.

Important Notes:

  • Iron Infusions: Rebates depend on procedural item numbers and individual circumstances.
  • Skin Cancer Biopsies & Lesion Excisions: Medicare rebates vary based on the complexity and item codes used.
  • Patients eligible for bulk billing (e.g., children under 16, Health Care Card/Pension Card holders) are not charged for consultations but will incur procedural fees for treatments.
